From Generation to Generation: Building to Better Give Back to the Community
Driven by the values passed down through their family, the Lachance brothers are joining forces to give back to their community through a major philanthropic initiative. Julien Lachance, President of Gestion Émavi Inc., and Patrick Lachance, President and CEO of Les Entreprises Lachance, have thus chosen to make a planned donation of $500,000 to the University of Sherbrooke to support the creation of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Learning, Research, and High Performance in Physical Activity Sciences.
Les Entreprises Lachance: Three Generations, One Passion—Building and Giving Back
June 6, 2025
Since 1962, the name Lachance has been synonymous with real estate in the Estrie region. In fact, Léandre Lachance was the first to blaze a trail by founding Les Entreprises Lachance, which, at the time, specialized primarily in real estate investment.
Then, in 1980, he made a major shift by offering land for sale to contractors and private individuals. In 1994, his son Patrick joined him as co-owner and director of operations. He contributed significantly to the company’s growth by becoming a general contractor and, starting in 1997, building and selling new homes.
Since then, enthusiasm has spread within this family of developers, who are truly passionate about their craft. In fact, Sylvie Lachance, Patrick’s sister, partially manages the finance department as controller, while his son, Louis-Olivier Roy—Léandre’s grandson—joined the company in 2009. He is now a co-owner and director of operations and acquisitions. Continuing to groom the next generation for key positions, Patrick, now president and CEO, has since welcomed two of his sons: Édouard, who works in rental management, and Louis-Thomas, who serves as assistant to the finance department.
